A wide range of methods and models allows us to answer specific questions purposefully. In a first step, quantitative analyses often give valuable insights. On this basis, individual and general recommendations can be derived. However, critical reasoning and discussions with partners and clients prove to be the most valuable instruments. Our methods and models thus only create a starting point to the analysis.
Fundamental power market models provide optimal power plant dispatch, unit commitment or investments according to the question at hand. In case of analyses with a special focus on power networks, the market models are extended to include detailed power flow calculations.
If the analysis is intended to look beyond the pure power market, additional markets such as balancing energy markets, heat markets and other sectors can be added to the model. Furthermore, the framework of the analysis may always be subject to scaling. This refers to the representation of markets and regions as well as to the temporal resolution of up to 8760 hours per year.
In the course of market events, other factors of influence besides fundamental drivers may determine the pricing process. Therefore we apply selected statistical and econometric methods that allow for a realistic evaluation of the price development.
